**Road Traffic Convictions Controversy**

We note with great interest the Garda Press Release of 23rd March 2017 setting out issues discovered with administration of Fixed Charge Notices (FCN) and road side breath tests. Early reports indicate that some 14,500 people may be affected and that many convictions will be quashed or overturned. A large number of motorists may have been wrongly convicted. They may also have suffered serious consquences including dramatic increases in their insurance together with loss of employment and other issues.

The Garda Press Release indicates that people affected can expect to receive a letter between 3rd and 14th April 2017.
